Outcomes AI

Using Artificial Intelligence for Better Outcomes in Education and Development

ree

The rapid emergence of a new generation ofAI tools has transformed the landscape for development organisations, presenting both opportunities and responsibilities.

At the Education Outcomes Fund (EOF), we have approached this shift pragmatically, deploying AI to solve operational challenges, refine processes, and strengthen programme delivery.

This paper, shares our journey, outlining the principles and practical steps that have guided our implementation. We detail three case studies: the integration of a knowledge agent to unlock organisational data, the use of large language models to automate cost classification, and the development of a unified quantitative model for programme design and assessment.

Our experience highlights the importance of control, transparency, and modularity ensuring that technology complements rather than overrides human judgement. We advocate deliberate oversight, robust data stewardship, and a flexible architecture that can adapt as tools evolve.

The lessons here are intended not as definitive answers, but as a starting point for dialogue and shared learning across the sector.

Our aim is to foster collective organisational intelligence, empowering teams to navigate the fast-moving world of AI with confidence and clarity.
